Step 1:
A) Paule-Koba, Amanda L., Othello Harris, and Valeria J. Freysinger. "“What Do I Think About Title
IX?” Voices From A University Community." Research Quarterly For Exercise & Sport 84.1 (2013): 115-125. SPORTDiscus with Full Text. Web. 6 Oct. 2016.

B) How has Title IX impacted peoples' views on the equality in college level sports?

C) Before: I'm assuming that Title IX has had a positive impact on the outside, but once this subject is delved into that it becomes apparent that it hasn't really leveled the playing field in terms of college sports at all. Title IX seems like the perfect solution to the issue of inequality in sports, but I think it proves to be much more difficult to implement in real life. I think this source will be useful in answering the above question because it will not provide solid research based facts, rather qualitative answers from a variety of different people attending a university. During: I didn't know a big criticism  was that men's sports were being cut. They chose a school who had cut men's sports to comply with Title IX. After: Overall, this source showed that the people interviewed felt that Title IX has been beneficial for women, but has negatively impacted men's sports.

Step 2:
The general consensus was that Title IX increased opportunities for women, but is detrimental to men's sports. Sports as a whole are viewed as a developmental tool, that they teach vital skills to athletes. Title IX is losing opportunities for men and is seen as another form of affirmative action, because women are automatically accepted onto certain teams. Women's sports were created solely to comply with Title IX. Rather than creating a team because women requested it, colleges add certain sports to be in compliance with Title IX regulations.
This source completely changed my thinking in regards to Title IX. Originally, I assumed that Title IX's biggest impact was women participating in sports, but it seems as if men are the biggest group impacted by this law. I agree that Title IX has provided many more opportunities for women to participate in sports, and it does benefit women. However, the purpose of this law is to create equality and level the playing field. Equality is not taking away a men's sport just so a women's sport can participate. I don't think a lot of people know/realize that this law has been unfair in regards to men's sports.
I'm planning on focusing more on the ways Title IX has hindered men's sports. I need to look into specifics of Title IX, like how it came about and what sort of items has it actually helped. I'm going to look into specifically football and basketball and how those two sports impact Title IX. Those two sports are big money makers for colleges, so I want to incorporate how they effect women's and men's sports alike. How can Title IX be changed to genuinely benefit and level the playing field for both men and women's college sports?
