Step 1:
A) WILSON, TAYLOR A. "Three's A Crowd: A Look At Potential Troubles Created By Third-Party Standing When Bringing A Title Ix Claim." Marquette Sports Law Review 25.2 (2015): 595-615. SPORTDiscus with Full Text. Web. 12 Oct. 2016.
B) How have changes to Title IX since its enactment impacted females playing college level sports?
C) Before: This article seems like it is going to be helpful in answering this question because the summary states that it will discuss the history of Title IX claims throughout history. Also, I hope it analyzes not only the potential problems of bringing claims to the Title IX office, but also the impacts of these issues and how they can be fixed.
During: This article dealt more with legalities and law than it did with my specific topic.
After: I don't think this was the best article for me to further my research. It contained a lot of jargon and not enough information about impacts in real life college sports.
Step 2:
The article's main event that it focused on was the pink locker room at the University of Iowa. Coach Fry argued that it would psychologically calm their opposing team, but many believed that he was insinuating that his opponents were sissies. This was a huge gender equality issue because women are synonymous with the color pink and, in this case, the weaker gender. After this case is explained, the article mainly analyzes the effects of having a third party involved in presenting a Title IX case. It is difficult for a third party interest group to establish a case because they have to be able to prove that they were directly harmed by the discrimination. Since the third party is not the person who is affected, there is no standing, therefore no case.
Overall, I don't think this was the most helpful source for my topic. The information and statistics regarding Title IX are beginning to get redundant, as they are in every article I have read thus far. This article would be more helpful to someone researching the actual Title IX law, rather than me, who is researching the effects of this law. However, the article did contain a few helpful facts, such as the outside interest groups, which I think is something I can further research.
This article doesn't synthesize well with my previous two articles at all. They all directly deal with Title IX, but the others dealt with the impact in sports while this article dealt with the impact in the court room.
For my next journal, I need to focus back on the impact of Title IX in sports. Straying into the world of law specifically would make my paper entirely too broad.
